City of Des Moines Public Works- Yard Waste Information

This program permits the use of a specially marked, wheeled container for the disposal of leaf and yard debris year round and is conveniently billed monthly on your Water Works bill.

2008 subscription rates:
64 Gallon Cart - $8.34 per month ($100/year) per cart
96 Gallon Cart - $10.42 per month ($125/year) per cart
Participation in the Premium Yard Waste Program requires a minimum 12-month commitment. Carts turned in prior to 12 monthly billings will be charged a $50 early retrieval fee.
A permanent numbered sticker will be attached to the yard waste toter lid upon delivery. The City of Des Moines stickers are effective upon receipt and do not expire. The assigned numbers are for tracking purposes only.
New customers will receive their yard waste cart within 5 business days of request.
The Yard Waste Carts are the property of the city of Des Moines. Residents are responsible for lost or stolen carts.
If you are enrolled in the Premium Yard Waste Program and move to another residence within the City limits of Des Moines, please notify the Public Works 24-Hour Customer Service Center at 283-4950 to update your new address.
