City
of Des Moines 2010 SCRUB
The Department of Public Works, in cooperation with the Des Moines Neighbors and the Neighborhood Revitalization Board, has worked to schedule a number of SCRUBs (Spring Cleanup to Remove Urban Blight) in 2010. This year, the Department of Public Works will continue the use of Metro Waste Authority (MWA) Transfer Station at 4198 Delaware Avenue and the MWA Compost Park at 1601 Harriett Street on nine Saturdays. New in 2010, arrangements have been made to allow Des Moines residents to haul trash to the MWA Metro Park East Landfill at 12181 University Avenue NE, Mitchelville. Residents hauling trash at no charge to the Metro Park East landfill should have their loads secured to avoid tarping fees. Tires and appliances are subject to MWA fees. Also see the following guidelines and complete SCRUB calendar or call the Public Works Department 24-hour Customer Service Center at (515) 283-4950.
