The
City Council has adopted Sidewalk
Ordinance modifications
aimed at getting defective
sidewalks replaced sooner.
When a property owner is notified
that their sidewalk is defective,
the owner has 90 days to have
it repaired or replaced. Those
that fail to do so are now
subject to a $500 civil citation.
A permit is required for a
property owner or a contractor
they hire to replace or repair
a sidewalk. The permit costs
$25 and is available in the
City's Permit and Development
Office in the Armory building
at 602 E. First Street.
Income
eligible home owners may apply
for
subsidy
assistance
. If approved within 30 days
from the date of notification
of defective sidewalk, the
City will arrange to have
their sidewalk replaced. Click

Property
owners with defective brick
sidewalks are encouraged to
repair rather than replace
their sidewalk by themselves
or under contract. The Public
Works Department will sell
property owners replacement
sidewalk brick at a cost of
50 cents each.
