The Human Rights Commission addresses illegal discrimination that occurs in the City of Des Moines in the areas of:

The Commission is an impartial Investigative Agency, which seeks
to determine through investigation, if a person was treated unfairly
in violation of the *Des Moines City Code we enforce.
Mission
To advance justice and equality of all people in Des Moines
Vision
We attempt to foster justice and equality for all people who live or visit Des Moines by creating an atmosphere of opportunity regardless of:
Age, Race, Color, Creed, Religion, Sex, Sexual Orientation, Ancestry, National Origin, Physical and Mental Disability or Family StatusResponsibility
We collaborate with Federal, State, and local organizations to:
- Increase awareness and enforce the laws regarding discrimination
- Initiate, receive, hear and investigate complaints of discrimination
- Provide Human Rights education/training to business and community groups
Volunteer with the Des Moines Human Rights Commission
